Beauty and Massage


Welcome to the Queen Katharine Academy Beauty and Massage Department.

 

We are committed to ensure that our therapists are trained to the highest industry standards, providing each student with the knowledge, confidence and skill needed to achieve in the beauty and massage industry.

Throughout their training, we will place emphasis on technique, skill, attention to detail and customer care. We will seek to embed employability and life skills necessary to achieve in a competitive industry.

The Queen Katharine Academy Beauty and Massage department prepares students for a career in industry. The department is managed by a fully qualified professional therapists with over 14 years’ experience.  We use professional products, tools and equipment to ensure that our students are trained to the highest standards.

Accredited by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) our courses are monitored and regularly assessed to ensure that we meet their high standards of excellence.

On successful completion of the course, our students are qualified therapists, and can look forward to careers on cruise ships, spas and salons as well as being self-employed.

 

Level 2 Diploma for Beauticians  

The level 2 Diploma for beauticians is a Technical qualification for students who wish to pursue a career as an employed and /or self-employed beautician. The qualification is based on national occupational standards for beauty therapy.

Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. They will also develop the knowledge and understanding and skills to consult with clients whilst providing a range of beauty treatments. Learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employee’s. Problem solving, team working, and research skills will also be developed.

  •  Anatomy and physiology for beauticians

 

Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy

This course will prepare the students for the role as a massage therapist.  Ideally, this should follow the successful completion of the level 2 course to increase their chances of employability; however, it can be studied as a single qualification. Competency is assessed through practical observation on external clients and exams. Students will produce a portfolio of evidence.

  • Monitor and maintain health & safety in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty related industries
  • Maintain personal health & wellbeing
  • Explore the origins and principles of complementary and alternative therapy
  • Provide massage with pre-blended aromatherapy oils
  • Apply stone therapy massage
