At The Queen Katharine Academy, we are committed to the professional development of all colleagues. High quality CPD can take many forms – Academy-based, external provision and self-study.
The aim of this page is to support colleagues with their self-study activities by offering suggestions for reading and other ways of accessing CPD resources away from school.
Please contact joanne.hammond@qka.education if there is anything you would like adding.
Here are some ideas that may be of interest:
- If teachers haven’t joined already, I strongly recommend that you join the Chartered College of Teaching. There are many benefits to this, not least the access it gives you to a research library – much like a university library. Here is a link. It is less than £4 a month (less than £2 for NQTs) and it is a real investment: https://chartered.college/join/#full-membership
- Also, there is OpenLearn: https://www.open.edu/openlearn/free-courses/full-catalogue?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiaTnuOCZ6AIVzbHtCh18jQPxEAAYASABEgJUm_D_BwE This is affiliated to the Open University and is a superb site where there is a wide range of courses which are free. It is well worth checking out. The courses are alphabetically listed and they cover such things as ‘Communication’, ‘Leadership’, ‘Making a difference’ as well as more academic courses and also subject-specific education courses.
- Click here if you want to see the QKA Reading Ideas list (on Amazon) which I will add to over time. http://amzn.eu/97C80IB This may offer some ideas if you feel like some actual shopping!
- We also have a subscription to Leadership Matters – there are videos and presentations and all sorts of good CPD on here: https://www.leadershipmatters.org.uk/
