Thursday 24th May 2018: More from Support for Learning
Support for Learning, SpLD consultancy service, were back at Queen Katharine Academy delivering a second training session. Today’s session was entitled “Building Confidence with dyslexic learners within the classroom.” Despite the hot weather, the afternoon training session was well attended by both primary and secondary teachers from across Peterborough. With a reminder upon the key characteristics underpinning dyslexia: phonological awareness, verbal memory, verbal processing speed and auditory and visual processing difficulties, time was spent identifying the impact of these upon classroom practice. Simple but effective environmental changes were discussed alongside outlining more tailored and specific strategies, that could be implemented by teachers or support staff to promote inclusive teaching and learning.
