A message for Years 11, 12, 13, 14 Students and Parents/Carers
Dear Parents/ Carers
The government has firmed up its guidelines on how GCSE, AS, EPQ and A level grades will be award this summer - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/how-gcses-as-a-levels-will-be-awarded-in-summer-2020. I have attached a letter that has been written specifically to students and parents and a guidance booklet that has been written specifically for students and parents.
The main things to point out to you at this stage are:
- Your child’s teachers will provide a centre assessment grade for you in each subject you study. We will use a variety of evidence to do this e.g. mock exams, classwork, any internal assessment etc.
- These grades will be placed through a moderation process, external to the school to ensure nationwide consistency.
We won’t start this process until after Easter when we expect to receive some more guidance from exam boards about how they want the data inputting.
Any BTEC/CTEC/RSL courses will still require coursework evidence, so please encourage your child to continue with any work their teachers have set them.
You will notice they continue to talk about the possibility of taking exams in the Autumn term and are still working on this. As soon as we know more, we will share this with you.
If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact Kirsty Cleworth if your child is in Year 11 or Damon Lewis if your child is in sixth form.
We are encouraging the staff and students to take a break from their work over the Easter holidays. We hope you stay safe.
Mrs Cleworth and Mr Lewis
