World Book Day on 4th March 2021

Dear Parent /  Student,

As we are fast approaching World Book Day on 4th March 2021 we would like to take the opportunity to allow students to step away from their devices for the afternoon on Friday 12th February and engage in some reading activities.

This event is our first reading afternoon in support of our whole school approach to reading, Reading Matters. Students will have a menu of tasks to choose from that includes picking up a book and reading (we are hoping for lots of reading selfies to share!), re-enacting favourite scenes using models or role-play, borrowing an eBook or audiobook from our excellent online library, painting or drawing the scenery in a favourite book setting or even watching the movie version of a favourite book and making some comparisons.

All of the tasks for the afternoon require students to read, reread, watch or reconnect with a book!

The reading menu will be sent out to students and is also available on social media for you to view.

How the reading menu works:

Students in KS3 (Years 7,8 &9) must choose 2 courses (1 main and any dessert or starter) to complete and submit via Teams or email.

Students in KS4 (Years 10 & 11) must choose 3 courses (1 main and any 2 desserts or starters) to complete and submit via Teams or email.

Reading is so powerful and important! Developing students’ vocabulary will only ever benefit them and their future. #Readingmatters
