On Saturday 18th May 2024, staff at Queen Katharine Academy will climb Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside collectively known as the Yorkshire Three Peaks. They will walk a circular route taking in all three mountains in one day. The route is 24 miles (38.6km) long and involves 5000 ft (1600 metres) of vertical ascent. The team consists of Mr Lima, Mrs Cleworth, Mrs East, Mr Jago, Mrs Kirby, Mrs Hudson, Mrs Pearce, Miss Veldre, Mrs Aukland, Mrs Iwuanyanwu, Mr Smith, Mrs Carter, Mr Ivascu, Miss Santos and Mr McMillan. This is a huge challenge that will take around 12 hours to complete. The team are completing this challenge to raise money for the students of QKA through the Pomegranate Opportunities trust.

The ‘Pomegranate Opportunities trust’, raises money for students of Queen Katherine to offer them enrichment activities that they may not normally be able to afford. The charity was set up about 4 years ago and is run by staff volunteers. The aim of the charity is to help our students make memories. All students at QKA can bid for funding. We look at every bid individually, to ensure that it meets the charities terms and conditions. Since we started, we have funded theatre trips, course work expeditions, kit for competitions, university visits and many other memories.

Our staff fundraisers need your support to ensure we always have funding to support our students, so they can continue to make memories. We would appreciate it if you could follow the link and sponsor us. Every penny does make a difference, so no amount is too small.
