COMMUNITY CAFÉ

The Community Café at QKA has been set up to support families as the cost of living keeps rising. It is a place for conversation, free drinks and also offers access to our Community Store, where we offer dry food, toiletries, clothes, book, toys.

The Café is also there to help families with any worries they may have regarding homework, free school meals or general school life. We can help signpost you to the right department who would be able to offer further support.

QKA Community Café also hosts themed Café sessions to celebrate holidays of our multi-national and multicultural student body. Some past themed Cafés include Polish ‘Fat Thursday’ and ‘Portugal Day’.

Our Café is opened every Tuesday (Term Time only) 3pm-5pm on the Street (corridor through main entrance) at QKA.

We look forward to seeing you there.

COMMUNITY FOOD STORE

The Community Food Store at QKA has served many student families since it started. Donations of dry food, baby food, ready meal packets, tinned food and fish have gone a long way to support families in need.

We are always happy to help. Please visit us on our Community Café days (Tuesday term times), speak to your child’s year team or pop into the school’s reception.

We are also gratefully welcoming donations of the above items. Please drop them off at the school reception referencing ‘the international office food store’.

Alternatively, should you like to make a financial donation towards this cause please click here: Make a donation.

LUNCHTIME CLUB

As part of Enrichment and promoting integration, the International Department at QKA hosts International Lunch Club and Romanian Lunch Club for our students. Our Community Liaison workers are available at these clubs to chat or answer any questions students might have. This is a great place for a new student to start as it helps forge friendships and offers assurance and support.

MULTIPLY

Numeracy is the ability to understand and use maths in daily life, at home, and at work. Whether that be improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more sense of the stats and facts in the media, or improving numeracy skills specific to your line of work.

Multiply provides free maths courses to eligible adults.

People who improve their numeracy skills are more likely to be in employment, have higher wages, and better well-being, and will be more able to progress to higher levels of free training to secure a skilled job in our economy.

Mulitply runs along ESOL during term time. Please contact marlene.flor@qka.education for more information.
