Our Vision

In QKA Technologies, we aim to equip students with the skills and knowledge they will require to thrive in an increasingly digitised and automated world.

We aim to use technology in innovative ways to foster curiosity, confidence, creativity, and resilience thereby empowering students into becoming regional and global citizens capable of actively and ethically communicating and collaborating in a real and digital world.

The department is fully committed to offering equal opportunities to all our students, regardless of their skill or ability, and access to all our currently available courses, academic or vocational.

QKA Technologies reaches across two distinct but related subjects:

  • Design and Technologies, in which students use design thinking and technologies to generate and produce solutions for real-world problems.
  • Computer Science, in which students use computational thinking and information systems to define, design and implement digital solutions.

The curriculum for Design and Technologies and Computer Science describes the distinct knowledge, understanding, and skills of the subject and, where appropriate, highlights their similarities and complementary learning.

Our curriculum is designed using a progressive curriculum model where each outcome builds from the last with a clearly defined sequence of achievement for each key stage so that students can make good progress.

The practical nature of the QKA Technologies engages students in critical and creative thinking, when solving complex problems.

As a department, we place great focus on encouraging students to experiment without fear of failure and students are encouraged to find new ways to apply their knowledge. This allows students to believe in their ability and share responsibility for their learning.
